Planetary Gear Set RFQ Data
A planetary gear set should be quoted as a meshing system. Tooth counts, module or diametral pitch, pressure angle, helix angle, face width, material, heat treatment, accuracy grade, bore or spline, and carrier geometry must work together.
Geometry First
Provide the mating sun, planet, and ring data. Center distance and planet spacing impose relationships that cannot be recovered reliably from a single tooth count.
Define The Duty
Torque, speed, reversals, shock, lifecycle, lubrication, and environment affect material and process decisions. A replacement sample is useful when drawings are unavailable.
Control The Drawing
The approved drawing should state material, heat treatment, gear quality, critical dimensions, inspection requirements, and any special marking or traceability.
Inspect The Failure
When replacing a damaged gear, document wear patterns and related bearing or carrier condition so the root cause is not copied into the new part.
