Description
Sun, Planet, And Ring Gears
Individual planetary gears are supplied as engineered components for new assemblies, maintenance programs, and reverse-engineered replacements. The mating geometry must be validated across the sun gear, planet gears, and internal ring gear so the tooth system shares load correctly.

Component Scope
RFQs can cover external sun gears, matched planet gears, internal ring gears or annulus gears, carrier pins, splined hubs, and related shafts. Material and heat-treatment decisions depend on tooth stress, cycle count, lubrication, impact loading, noise target, and required life.
Manufacturing Inputs
| Drawing Field | Examples To Confirm |
|---|---|
| Gear geometry | Module/DP, tooth count, pressure angle, helix angle |
| Blank geometry | OD, bore, hub, shoulder, face width |
| Connection | Keyway, involute spline, straight spline, press fit |
| Material | Alloy or stainless grade from drawing/specification |
| Heat treatment | Carburizing, induction hardening, through hardening as specified |
| Accuracy | DIN/ISO/AGMA quality requirement |
| Inspection | Profile, lead, runout, hardness, dimensional report |
Replacement Control
For an existing gearbox, identify whether damage is isolated or systemic. Wear patterns can indicate misalignment, lubrication failure, overload, bearing looseness, or housing distortion. Replacing teeth without correcting the root cause can repeat the failure.
RFQ Checklist
Provide a drawing or sample, annual quantity, material and heat-treatment specification if known, mating gear information, operating speed and torque, lubrication method, and any inspection documentation required with shipment.
FAQ
Can you reverse engineer an internal ring gear?
Yes, subject to receiving sufficient sample or dimensional data. The mating sun and planet geometry should also be provided.
Can I change material from the original?
A material change should be treated as an engineering change and reviewed against tooth stress, hardness, fatigue life, lubrication, and manufacturing process.
Do you support splined gear hubs?
Custom bore and spline interfaces can be reviewed from drawings or samples.
Is a certificate automatically included?
Inspection and documentation scope should be specified in the RFQ so the quote matches your required quality package.
Data Note: This page intentionally avoids assigning unverified sizes or materials to a generic component family. Final manufacturing data is controlled by the approved drawing or sample.
