EP300 Modular Planetary Drives

The EP300 family is the core modular industrial planetary-drive platform for applications that need compact coaxial power transmission and a broad torque ladder. The catalogue separates reference torque, required torque, service factor, thermal capacity, efficiency, speed, and life factor so the gearbox is selected from the duty rather than from motor power alone.

Torque Classes

Use the reference-torque ladder to identify the starting gearbox size. Final selection must also check service factor, required life, input speed, thermal duty, radial or axial loads, and mounting configuration.

Selection Logic

For a first pass, calculate application output torque and multiply it by the service factor. The resulting calculated torque must remain within the rated output torque for the selected life factor. Continuous-duty applications also require a thermal-power check, especially when ambient temperature or input speed differs from the catalogue reference condition.

Do not select only from peak motor power. Reversals, starts per hour, shock load, duty cycle, and output speed can change the required frame size.

Drive Interfaces

EP300 drives can be configured around electric or hydraulic prime movers, different output arrangements, and application-specific mounting. The RFQ should identify the input source, shaft or flange connection, rotation, mounting position, and any external radial or axial load.

Is the reference torque the same as my required torque?

No. Reference torque is a sizing class. Required torque and service factor must be checked against the rated torque for the intended life.

Can EP300 be used with hydraulic motors?

Yes, the catalogue selection logic covers electric, hydraulic, and other drive units; the exact adaptor and brake arrangement must be confirmed.

What information is needed for replacement selection?

Send the existing nameplate, ratio, input and output interfaces, mounting drawing, duty, and photos. Do not rely on outside dimensions alone.

Are dimensions identical across all EP300 sizes?

No. Each basic size and construction version has its own dimensional data and interface options.
